Checkbox as an additional field

edited April 2018 in Questions

Hello there! I am happily starting to use Sendy right now, and I am still exploring and trying to get into it.

The upcoming GDPR (end of May) will require data processors (which every user of a Sendy install be) to retain a documentation of how and when a customer gave their consent to be added to a list.

For anyone who works within or with the EU this means that we need to clean our lists from all addresses where this consent can not be proven.

The easiest way would be to add a checkbox which - when checked - triggers a call of the subscription form which then is saved with the data set.

A "required checkbox" in the submission form will not suffice because this will not document when the consent was given.

Is there any way to add a checkbox field as a custom field?

Thank you!

  • Hi,

If you use the subscription form that Sendy provides, referrer information (URL of the form they signed up from), country and IP address are recorded. You can see them in the subscribers list when you click on their name or email. When you export a CSV of the whole list, these information are included in the CSV as well.

If you really want to add a checkbox, you'd need to build your own subscription form with Sendy's API (https://sendy.co/api) and pass the checkbox click data in to a custom field of your list.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Ben
