How are 'opens' tracked?

edited July 2016 in Questions

I identified a bunch of subscribers who, according to the sendy metrics, never opened any of my emails. But when i contacted them, many of them said that they DO open the emails. So why isn't sendy showing that they open the emails?

    Hi,

Because they opened your email but did not "turn on images" when viewing your email.

Images must be turned on when opening the email, then opens can be tracked. This is the same for all email marketing platforms all over the world, including MailChimp, Aweber, Campaign Monitor etc.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Ben

  • Thanks Ben. I had no idea that open tracking worked that way. So I guess that means that open rates are usually higher that what they report to be.
