autoresponders not going out. does cron have to be every minute?

my hosting only allows cron jobs every 5 minutes.

could this be the reason why autoresponders are not going out?

I've added two addresses through the api and there is an immediate after signup autoresponder saved but nothing has been sent

there were no errors for the autoresponder setup once I had set up a 5 minute repeating cron for scheduled.php and autoresponders.php

Yes, cron jobs for autoresponders have to be every minute as per the instructions, otherwise it will not work.
