"Cannot Connect to Database" - Another Possible Cause/Solution

edited May 2013 in Troubleshooting

Hi!

I'm new here and hope this will be considered a helpful contribution to the troubleshooting category.

I just finished installing Sendi but it took me about an hour banging my head against the wall -- and the issue was totally my fault.

After uploading the files and setting up the config file, I kept getting "Cannot Connect to Database" when trying to reach the setup page. I checked and rechecked my config settings (what seemed like a million times), re-uploaded files a few dozen times, and checked the forums here for a possible solution, all to no avail.

"Can't Connect to Database" related threads that I checked:

I finally discovered that I had neglected to give/assign any "privileges" to the user while setting up the database. Once I added the privileges the install worked and went smoothly from there!

I just wanted to put this out there in case any other non-technical persons such as myself runs across the same issue.

Tomorrow I attempt my first send operation. Hopefully it will go well!
