Hi. This is a simple question. I would like to each email sent to address that person by the first name. Is there a way to do this?

Yes. Use the
[Name,fallback=]personalization tag in your email.Eg. Hi [Name,fallback=there] will turn into either 'Hi Tom' or 'Hi there' depending on whether the subscriber's Name field is set.
You will see the list of personalization tags you can use at the bottom of the screen when you create or edit a campaign.
