Does Sendy respect bounces from other Apps using same SES information

edited April 2014 in Questions

Hi,

I have two users sharing the same AWS SES account. If one user sends a campaign using his application (not Sendy) and an email address is marked as bounced, will that email be marked as bounced if the Sendy user tries to send a campaign? Or will SES mark it as another bounce, thereby inflating the bounce rate?

  • Hi,

If both you and the other user uses the same verified email/domain to send emails, yes the email address will be marked as bounced on both Sendy installations if the bounced email exists in both installations.

On whether SES will count it as you're sending to a bounced email 'twice', yes if both you and the other user are sending to the same bounced email address.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Ben

  • Thanks for the prompt response Ben, it's much appreciated. Is there a way for Sendy to poll the bounced emails before sending? So that if an email has been marked as bounced by SES went sent from a different application ( in this case Direct Mail for Mac), Sendy does not try to send another email to that contact.

  • Hi,

So that if an email has been marked as bounced by SES went sent from a different application ( in this case Direct Mail for Mac), Sendy does not try to send another email to that contact.

Sendy will only 'not' send the email to a bounced email if that email was marked as bounced 'in Sendy' (not in other applications). There are no other ways for Sendy to know if an email is marked as bounced in Amazon SES unless it has been marked as bounced in your Sendy installation before.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Ben
