User-agent statistics: see what email client subscribers use

edited September 2012 in Suggestions
Hello,

I'm not sure if this can be done, I know Mailchimp does it, this is just an idea.
It would be wonderful to know what email clients subscribers use, in order to better focus our tests with tools like inbox inspection/litmus/emailonacid.

Thanks !

  • This is something we want to add eventually. :)
  • Is this still on the to-do list? Would be a great addition to reports.

  • Agree, invaluable suggestion

  • Another vote for this. I've had a number of clients ask for this recently.

  • +1 for this. It would definitely make it easier to know how to optimize email templates. It looks like some email client user agent strings can be found here: https://udger.com/resources/ua-list#Email client

  • In t.php, you can grab getenv("HTTP_USER_AGENT"). I use it more for counting "real" opens by not counting the iOS15/MPP cache opens (that, for now, look like "Mozilla/5.0" as opposed to the full versioned OS/client/device/browser) but you could dump it to a table and dig in to it.

  • Ben, I am going to add my vote to this feature as well. This would be EXTREMELY helpful as far as sending out emails. We are going back to hand coding our messages again and of course none of them look right on my wife's dated Outlook so I want to make sure that is covered. She feels that everyone we are emailing to has her version and does not upgrade like she does.

Ok, this is turning into a "help me win a disagreement with my wife" scenario. But still, it would be a huge help. I see that the first request was made in 2012? Currently August 2024.
