Is anyone sending via Sparkpost?

edited March 2016 in Questions

I have yet to find an answer via searches as to whether Sendy will work with Sparkpost. I have been using Sendy within 'Easysendy' and sending via Mandrill but will need to change in the next few weeks.

  • It works. Can't beat 100,000 free emails a month. You just need the Sparkpost Webhook and select the correct backend settings.

My list is about 800 emails so it's overkill with 100,000 a month. I'm a sometimes send stuff, light user.

I also set it up in WHM/Cpanel for all my sites. Emails are Inboxing but I don't have any Stats.

  • Been looking into the same thing, would love for Sendy to support it officially, through the API...
Where is this webhook that you speak of?
    Thanks.

  • I would love to test Sparkpost for a client, is there anywhere you can point me to get started? Thanks :)

  • Hi

We have it installed on our sendy hosts but Sparkpost has a catch. All the emails come with an unsubscribe link by default. But that link wont unsubscribe from sendy but will mark the user as unsubscribe on sparkpost instead.
The problem is if you change to another provider in the future, the user will be susbcribed on sendy so next time he could press spam instead.

If you want to install it you can use this:

  • Sparkpost has a setting in the Admin-Webhook section, "unsubscribe events" that turns that feature OFF. Just deselect it and unsubscribe will be handled by Sendy. Sparkpost will stop inserting that code.

However, Sendy needs code to display an unsubscribe. That would be in the Sendy Editor and can be inserted from there.

The link below has a picture of Sparkposts Webhook options I am talking about above.

I paid $25 for some programmer to create a working Webhook. If your interested I will sell you the Sparkpost Webhook and setup guide for $5.00 via PayPal. If it doesn't work, I'll refund you.

    Hi @rafaelmagic
I am sorry but that option does not disable the unsubscribe header on sparkpost. What that options does is not sending the unsubscribes received by sparkpost to the webhook so it wont be handled by Sendy either which is worse (on my humble opinion).

I have been talking with the developers and the only way to disable the unsubscribe headers on Sparkpost is using the API to send the emails, but that is not possible at the moment on Sendy.

There is a working webhook on the link I provided before, but that one only covers the same webhooks sendy does: Spam and soft and hard bounces.

The other thing with sparkpost is that you cannot hide the sparkpost domain. All the emails appear sent by sparkpost, which is something that you can hide using Mailgun or Sengrid, for example.

  • Did you "verify" every domain with SPF & Domainkims records? That will allow you to hide their sending domain.

    https://support.sparkpost.com/customer/portal/articles/1933360-verify-sending-domains

  • After you add Domain properly then the API section needs certain toggles to be set to off.

  • Hi @rafaelmagic

    Please trust me on this.

I have added an screenshot here where you can see the email (signed by my domain but still sent by sparkpost) and the unsubscribe links (on an email sent using SMTP):
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3048964/SCREENSHOTS/test_envio-sparkpost_Gmail.png

The domain is added perfectly and the API section cannot be configured to remove those two things.
You can see the date on the email, this is not something I have not tested properly.

Can you show me proof of your emails opened with Gmail that does not show does items?
If you can, please paste an screenshot.

    Thanks

  • Sendyhost,

Give me a bit. I can't login to Sendy at the Moment.

  • My Headers are a little different. I set SparkPost in Exim.

I am NOT getting a Unsubscribe, rather a "via myserver.com"

My theory is that its a GMAIL thing that automatically gets added to Gmail Emails.

  • Just found this. Unsubscribe List Header is used by Gmail & Hotmail and every Sparkpost Sent Email has that header.

    https://support.sparkpostelite.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2089764-list-unsubscribe-functionality?b_id=8730

Their should be a way to Hook into it.

  • That´s what I said to you on my first message.

  • Hi,
I have writted a post with the top 7 alternatives to mandrill, in case someone is interested:
