Cleaning out the Uploads directory?

I'm assuming that there is no harm in deleting the images in my Uploads directory that are several years old. They are all for one-off weekly promotions so they have no relevance today..

Am I correct in my thinking?

    Yes you're correct. If they are several years old, I don't think the recipients will re-open these emails (which will result in broken images).
