• It may be helpful if people shared list size and performance, as well as what hosting provider they use?

  I'm using small EC2 with small RDS from Amazon. Seeing consistent 50-60% cpu usage at "idle" with 120k in list.

• I don't think you have to worry about the rate, Amazon will throttle you if it needs to.

• That's been my experience using an AWS micro instance.

  I know sendy does some useful work filtering out invalid emails and checking for duplicates, but it is slow. Alternative, and costlier, solutions are much faster.

• In my experience, an AWS micro instance can send via Sendy at about 5 mails per second. So your 50k list will take ~2.5 hours to send. It's your call if that's OK.
