Elastic Email Setup Guide

Introduction

Sendy supports Elastic Email SMTP sending service. When you send emails via Elastic Email, bounces and complaints will be flagged by Sendy in the respective list(s) so that future emails will not be sent to them again.

Note: You must be on their 'Email API Pro' plan so that Sendy can handle bounces and complaints through their 'webhook'. 'Email API' (not Pro) plan does not support webhooks.

For Sendy to send emails via Elastic Email, you'll need to generate a set of SMTP credentials from your Elastic Email account, then save it in your desired brand's settings in Sendy.

  1. Login to your Elastic Email account. Go to 'Settings > SMTP > Create SMTP Credentials'.

  2. Enter your desired Username.

  3. Click the Create button that appears at the top right.

  4. Copy the password.

  5. Edit your brand settings, under 'SMTP settings', select 'Elastic Email' from the drop down menu. Then paste in your username & password and save.

Before you can use any 'From email' to send emails via Elastic Email, you need to verify either the email or its domain to prove that you own the email address.

  1. In your Elastic Email account. Go to 'Settings > Domains > Manage Domains'.

  2. To verify an email address, click the Add From Email button. To verify the domain, click the Add Sending Domain button. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the verification process.

Set up a webhook so that Elastic Email can notify Sendy of any 'bounce' or 'complaint' event.

  1. In your Elastic Email account. Go to 'Settings > Notifications > Manage Webhook'.

Click the Create Webhook button at the top right of the next screen, then follow the instructions below to fill up the form.

  1. Enter 'Sendy bounce/complaint handling' as your webhook name (you can use any name you like)
  2. Enter the following as the 'Notification link':

    https://your.sendy.installation.url/includes/campaigns/webhooks/elasticemail/webhook.php

Replace https://your.sendy.installation.url with your Sendy installation URL.

  3. Check the boxes Unsubscribed, Complaints and bounceerror.

The last step is to enable 'Custom headers' by doing the following.

  1. Visit 'Settings > Sending > Advanced'.

  2. Turn on 'Custom headers' toggle switch.

Done! Your Sendy's brand is hooked up with Elastic Email.
