Date custom field format

If the date custom field is added via a form (with a date widget). can the date be in dd-mm-yyyy format ?
I saw that you wrote that " The date passed into this field can be written in any format." is this true ?

Yes you can enter date in almost any format.

Examples:

• 19-05-2013
• 19 may 2013
• may 19
• today
• tomorrow
• yesterday
• 5 days ago
• 7 days
