mod_rewrite is not enabled

I keep getting this message mod_rewrite is not enabled when I go to http://mydomain.com/_compatibility.php?i=1

Do I really need to have this mod on? If so, I am sure that my host has mod_rewrite is on but why does it keep showing 'mod_rewrite is not enabled'?

    Hi,

    If you don't get a 404 error at the login page, you can ignore this mod_rewrite warning, otherwise please see → https://sendy.co/troubleshooting#404-error

    The reason why you see the warning is because mod_rewrite cannot be detected, even if it is enabled. Because your server is running PHP in 'CGI mode' and not 'Apache module'. Either way it will not affect Sendy, as long as you don't get a 404 error at the login page.
