Connect to AWS RDS - MySql instance?

Hi All,

I've setup Sendy running on a EC2 instance and it's working well. I thought I'd move the database from the server to a dedicated AWS RDS MySQL database. I set that up and restored the DB to it successfully. I can connect to the DB successfully from MySQL workbench no problem but when I change the connection in the config.php file, it keeps telling me that it can't connect to the DB. For some reason I can't connect to the new instance.

Has anyone gotten this to work? I'm sure it's something small but I'm stumped.

Cheers!!

Sev

  • Hi Sev,

Moving to RDS is a bad idea. I highly recommend not using RDS with Sendy.

Users who use RDS experience slower sending speeds and unforeseen issues. RDS is good for 'storing' data but not optimized for quick real time data processing like what Sendy needs.

Here's one feedback from a user using RDS:

I suggest using a database hosted on the same instance that is hosting Sendy.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Ben
