Unsubscribe without a link?

Hi - a client insisted on not having the unsubscribe link, but rather just asking clients to email them if they want off the list.
We sent a campaign, but, there were still a couple of unsubscribers even without the unsubscribe link to click.
How can this happen? Appreciate it if anyone can shed some light on this.

As part of email marketing's best practice, Sendy includes a
