"Email address is invalid" on subscription page

edited November 2013 in Troubleshooting

Hi,

I'm a newbie to Sendy, today I installed the latest version 1.1.7.8. All went well, and was also able to configure the Amazon Web Services, including the verification of first a single email address, and then our entire domain. Eventually I was able to send my first test newsletter by providing a recipient's email address manually from within Sendy.

So far I am reasonably confident that my Sendy installation works properly.

Then I tried to figure out how customers can actually subscribe on our website, so I placed the subscribe scripts (http://sendy.co/api) in a subfolder called "subscribe", and I made sure that all rights are set properly (chmod, chown).

However, when I try to access the subscription page, I am unable to see the form (Name, Email), but instead I get right away the error message "Email address is invalid." (Please find the page here: https://www.justcorebusiness.com/sendy/subscribe/index.html)

I'm stuck here currently, and I would greatly appreciate if somebody could point me in the right direction.

  • Hi,

You're using Sendy's API, and in the wrong way.

Use Sendy's subscribe form HTML code instead:

Sendy provides you with a subscribe form HTML code you can embed anywhere on your website.

    1. Go to 'View all lists'
    2. Select your desired list
    3. Click 'Subscribe form' at the top right to get the HTML code

    Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Ben

  • Hi Ben,

thanks for your answer. I'm afraid I'm missing something here. Could you please have a look at this screenshot: https://www.justcorebusiness.com/sendy/screenshot.png

That's all I see, and particularly the "top right" (where the HTML snippet should be) is blank.

Could it be that the HTML code is actually not showing, or am I still on the wrong page?

Just in case, that's my LAMP environment:

    Linux: CentOS 6.4, 64 bit
    Apache: 2.4.6
    MySQL: 5.5
    PHP: 5.4.21

    Thanks a lot!

  • Hi Ben,

my apologies, I was actually on the wrong page. I always "edited" the list, but I figured that I actually have to click on the list name itself.

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated.
