Trialing Version 7.0

edited July 24 in Questions

Hi Ben, congrats on shipping a new version!
I've been running sending for years and have a current 6.x version installed in production.

I have just purchased version 7 upgrade.

I want to know if there is a way I can test it while keeping the production version 6 in place as users may well be using it, as it's tied to it's domain name.

If not - are there any breaking DB changes that if I quickly switch the folders out, have a trial, then switch it back if needed?
( main reason is I've modified v6 to use this editor https://stripo.email/plugin/ - which I might not need any further. )

Unrelated, are you planning to support multiple users per account?

Thanks

  • Hi Sheldon,

Thanks! Yes, you can absolutely install Sendy 7 on another subdomain for testing purposes, as long as your main domain is licensed.

That would actually be the safest way to evaluate the upgrade while keeping your production v6 installation untouched.

I would suggest exporting your current database and importing it into a new database for the test install to use, so nothing changes on your existing production database.

There are database changes in v7, so I would strongly recommend against switching the same DB back and forth between v6 and v7.

Once you're happy with testing, you can then update your existing Sendy install over.

As for multiple users per account, it’s something being considered, but there’s no ETA yet.

    Thanks.

    Cheers,
    Ben
