Different number of bounces in SES versus Sendy and Bounces not being received

edited December 2012 in Troubleshooting

Ben,

SES is only showing 6 bounces. Sendy shows 90. http://cloud.vincentpolisi.com/SES_Management_Console-20121229-100609.jpg

I am not receiving bounces from SES (complaints, yes, bounces, no) via email through SNS. http://cloud.vincentpolisi.com/SES_Management_Console-20121229-101226.jpg

SNS Bounce settings: http://cloud.vincentpolisi.com/SNS_Management_Console-20121229-101335.jpg

So, are the 90 bounces automatically unsubscribed from the list in Sendy?

Any idea why I am not receiving bounces through SNS but I am receiving complaints?

    Hi @vincentpolisi,

SES is only showing 6 bounces. Sendy shows 90.

Have you sent emails to these subscribers before? The extra bounces you see in Sendy may have been converted from previous soft bounces. There are 2 types of bounces, 'soft' and 'hard' bounce. When a subscriber is marked as 'soft' bounce the 3rd time, it will be converted to a hard bounce.

On another note, there's no reason Sendy will mark any random emails as 'bounced'. The bounces.php script is always called by Amazon SNS. When it is called by Amazon SNS, the bounces.php script will then handle the email passed to it.

I am not receiving bounces from SES (complaints, yes, bounces, no) via email through SNS.

You don't have to worry about not receiving bounces via email as bounces are already registered in Sendy via SNS.

So, are the 90 bounces automatically unsubscribed from the list in Sendy?

These 90 bounces are marked as 'bounced' so future newsletters won't be sent to them.

You are already receiving bounces through SNS as your installation shows 90 bounces.
