SNS Topic region problem

    In your Get started guide, setup bounces and complaints sections, you say : "Important: Your SNS topic region must be the same as your email(s) verified on SES."

    I'm french, so I guess my verified email(s) may be in EU region.

    And when I want to configure Notifications for bounces and complaints in AWS SES console, I can read :"Important: Only SNS topics in the US-East-1 region are supported by SES at this time."

    Does it mean that I can't use bounces and complaints via SNS ? Is this part only for stats in Sendy ?

    What other way to check it ? Directly in AWS SES console ?

    First I tried to create the 2 topics in the EU (Ireland) region but they weren't listed in the Edit Notification Configuration box in SES (where I can read the message : "Important: Only SNS topics in the US-East-1 region are supported by SES at this time.")

    Then I deleted them and created the 2 topics in US East (Virginia) region (my console says the same thing than your screenshot). With this setting, I can configure the notifications in SES for bounces and complaints.

    But, when I test some bounce with Amazon Mailbox Simulator, I have no feedback :(

    And with your warning : "Important: Your SNS topic region must be the same as your email(s) verified on SES.", I suppose that my french verified emails can't use SNS notifications because they're not in the same region (how do you know from what region is an email anyways ?).

    It's not your fault, it doesn't work in AWS SES Console.

    I was just wondering if you had some trick to make it work with EU verified emails (maybe thanks to previous EU customers of yours).

    I asked AWS support too, I will see what they say.

    Hi @willdante,

    Your bounce setup should work. Have you followed the steps in Step 7, point 6 onwards http://sendy.co/get-started? Those are very important if you want to get bounces to be registered.

  • I followed every step but it's not working.

    Here are some screenshots of my configuration :

  • The only part I didn't follow is to verify a domain because I only need to run with individual verified emails and don't want to authentify with DKIM.

    But I don't think it can prevent notifications from working, isn't it ?

    Not verifying the domain won't affect bounces. I'm puzzled as to why it's not working. You mentioned your verified emails are French, but Amazon SES only have one region available which is US east.

  • My mistake, I was sending emails directly from SES and not from Sendy, I'm sorry.

    So it's working now !
